Studio

Alongside my work, I maintain a studio practice in West London. I paint figuratively, with a particular focus on the charged, ambiguous space of female adolescence. For me, these years are a battleground, a site where ideas of power, agency and selfhood are staged, contested and performed. My large-scale, multi-figure paintings often position their subjects in poses that are faintly strange inviting the viewer to question whether they are witnesses or intruders. I draw on art-history, reworking it through the lens of lived experience, cinema and contemporary culture, to expose the artificiality of representation while probing what it might mean to hold the gaze on one’s own terms.
